7th pay panel to recommend 15% hike
Recommendations will go to the finance minister and central govt employees could expect a raise.

Lakhs of central government employees and pensioners could receive an impressive pay hike, as the seventh Pay Commission is set to submit its recommendations today to finance minister Arun Jaitley.
According to sources, the panel is likely to recommend a 15% pay hike.† This hike would benefit 48 lakh central government employees and 55 lakh pensioners.
The sixth Pay Commission had recommended a substantial increase in the basic pay of employees, increasing it from Rs 2,550 to Rs 6,660.
The Centre appoints panellists to the Pay Commission every ten years to study the issues related to salary and related issues of employees. The recommendations of the commission have to be implemented with effect from 1 January 2016.
