Separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Monday asked people to stay away from New Year celebrations, alleging they were part of RSS’ plan to export “lewd” culture into Kashmir. “A night-long programme is being organised by some unknown group ‘Kashmiryat’ on December 31 in Gulmarg. It is a cultural onslaught. These programmes are being organised under an agenda devised by RSS to thrust upon Kashmir, the shameless and lewd culture of India,” chairperson of Dukhtaran Aasiya Andrabi said in a statement. Andrabi said the programme is being sponsored by few Urdu and English dailies and TV channels and in the name of art, music and comedy, “shameless” actors of Bollywood have been invited.

“It is a clear attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris,” she said.  The real culture of Kashmir, she is said, is related to Islam where there is no place to celebrate events like new year. “These events can be important for the ‘Brahman’ culture but they do not have any connection with Islam. This programme is not a ‘parwaaz’ (flight) of Kashmir but the parwaaz of a vulture which is always destined towards filth,” she said.
