Foreign Secretary talks not now; Pakistan unaware of Masood’s arrest

The Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan will not be held in Islamabad on Friday, as scheduled earlier, Islamabad announced on Thursday.

Islamabad made the announcement about four hours ahead of a regular briefing by India’s External Affairs Ministry. Final word from New Delhi was still awaited. The Pakistan Foreign Ministry also said that it was not aware of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar having been ‘’arrested’’. 

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kazi Khalilullah said both countries were in touch and new dates for the meeting were under discussion. Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar spoke to his Pakistani counterpart. They agreed to reschedule FS-level talks in near future, MEA said. “We are waiting for Pakistan’s probe team to come to India for investigating the Pathankot attack. We will extend full support to them. NSAs of both the countries are in touch.
