Parrikar says something will be done on Pathankot

Asserting that India is not going to tolerate any more terror strikes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Saturday that “something will be done”, in the wake of Pathankot airbase attack.

“Sehne ki kshamta jo desh ki thi wo ab khatam ho gayi hai. Kuch na kuch zarur karenge (India’s tolerance limit has crossed. will definitely do something),” Mr Parrikar said. 

The Defence Minister, who was here along with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, said a security audit of all the defence installations was being carried out to plug any loophole in the security of defence stations in the light of the recent terror strike. Initially, the audit would be carried out at the base commander level followed by a special cell in February this year. 

US wants dialogue to go on: “We want them to continue to have a dialogue and to continue to look for ways to cooperate against a common threat,” John Kirby told reporters in Washington on Friday. He noted that leaders of both the countries had condemned the attack and expressed their shared commitment to fighting terrorism.

“That was not an insignificant discussion that they had, nor was it an insignificant commitment that they made, and it’s exactly the kind of commitment that we want them to continue to make,” Mr Kirby said.
