Mr Bassi was talking to reporters after meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, whom he was understood to have apprised about the latest development pertaining to the security situation in the National Capital Region.
When asked about the ink attack on Mr Kejriwal and charges of security lapses levelled by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the Delhi top cop said, "there was no lapse. The required police cover was in place."
He said the woman, who attacked the CM has been arrested and a case was filed against her. He said the matter will be thoroughly investigated.
The accused, a 27-year-old woman, identified as Bhawna Arora threw ink on Mr Kejriwal while he was delivering a speech at Chhatrasal Stadium yesterday for making the odd-even traffic policy successful. The woman is said to be a member of the Punjab division of Aam Aadmi Sena.
Mr Sisodia, who was not present at the function, said the incident should not be taken lightly.
He alleged that the BJP was trying to harm the Chief Minister.
BJP is trying to kill Arvind Kejriwal. We are against VIP security but the cabinet needs to be protected. Its a dangerous incident. One woman comes and throws ink and there is not a single policeman there to take care of security. If someone comes and throws acid on the cabinet or plants a bomb, who will take responsibility. There was no checking done at the programme, he said.
