With the addition of 42 local bodies in Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts, the ruling party was elated, and the Corporation Mayor Saidai Duraisamy gushed that the AIADMK government would again come to power in the coming Assembly election, Duraisamy hinted that the DMK party is floundering now. “The minority DMK is staggering to find alliance parties rather than focusing on poll strategy, which means that the party is fearing the elections,” he said.
Taking objection to the Mayor terming them as ‘minority DMK’, the party councillors said, “We are not members from minority DMK and we are from strong party”. Later, they staged a walk out.
Again, the Mayor went on to explain success of the AIADMK government, for which the DMK members shouted at Mayor, who in turn asked them to either sit or move out of the hall, if they were unable to digest the facts. During the question hour, most of the councillors raised questions in connection with the flood-affected issues.
Further, the Mayor instructed the councillors to prepare reports and submit them in their concerned area officials for taking up repairing roads. “All the grievances with regard to flooding will be redressed and councillors can anytime approach concerned zonal officials for any kind of issues,” Duraisamy said.
