Elaborate arrangements by Railways for Ponkala

Additional bomb detection squad and dog squad have also been mobilised. Additional lighting, announcement, first aid counters will be set up. Effective coordination with state fire force and other agencies is maintained.  

Additional ticket counters will be opened at Thiruvananthapuram Central. Facility for purchasing return ticket will be available. Additional ticket checking staff will be on duty to give guidance to devotees. 

Special trains, additional coaches in passenger trains, additional stoppages for express trains at smaller stations, additional ticket information and announcement counters, medical aid centre, enhanced security coverage at stations and special escort for trains have been ensured. 

On the day of Pongala, movement on foot over bridges at Thampanoor station will be regulated and will be in one direction only. The Thiruvananthapuram Central - Chennai Egmore Ananthapuri Express will stop at all stations between Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil, the Mangalore Central-Nagercoil Parasuram Express will stop at all stations between Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil. 

The Thiruvananthapuram Chennai Mail would stop at Chirayankeezhu, Kadakkavoor and Paravur. The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Chennai Egmore Ananthapuri express and the Mangalore-Nagercoil Parasuram Express will stop at all stations between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Nagercoil.
