Partial solar eclipse on March 9

North East will be able to view this better as sunrises occur earliest there and the Sun will be a little higher during eclipse, an official statement said. It said a total Solar Eclipse will be seen from some parts of the world in the early morning of March 9.

The total solar eclipse, where the Sun will be 100 per cent obscured, will only be visible from parts of Indonesia including Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi, and from locations in the Pacific Ocean. 

The total eclipse will begin at 4.49 IST March 9, and its maximum point will take place at 6.30 IST on the same day. It said in Delhi, the sun will rise at 6.38 hrs while the eclipse starts at 6.40 hrs and ends at 6.44 hrs. In Chennai, while the sun will rise at 6.20 hrs, the eclipse starts at 6.22 hrs and ends at 6.48 hrs. In Kolkata, the eclipse starts at 5.26 hrs, mild eclipse at 6.22 hrs and ends at 6.50 hrs, the statement added.
