JNUSU president Kanhaiya meets Rahul

Kanhaiya, along with student leaders from the All India Students Federation, met Mr Gandhi at his Tughlak Lane residence.

The Congress vice-president had earlier come out in full support for the student leader following his arrest on sedition charges. He had also attended a protest meeting at JNU against the arrest of Kanhaiya and the JNU crackdown after the February 9 event to observe the death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Mr Gandhi had attacked the Centre for the crackdown on the JNU students.

Kanhaiya's meeting with Mr Gandhi comes ahead of his visit to the Hyderabad University. Kanhaiya is scheduled to meet with Dalit scholar Rohith Veumla's friends at the Hyderabad University tomorrow.

The meeting will take place at a part of the campus where a makeshift memorial has been set up for the 26-year-old, who committed suicide in January, triggering a nationwide controversy.
