“Since the indications of such an attempt have come from none less than the Union Finance Minister himself, I am taking it very seriously.

The Centre has been warned to desist from carrying out such low and shameful attempt to overturn the people-friendly bill passed by an elected assembly in keeping with constitutional norms for betterment of the needy and underprivileged sections in the state,” Rawat said at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Pointing out that the assembly still existed in suspended animation, Rawat stressed that according to law only Assembly can pass a budget.

“People of Uttarakhand would not stand the insult of the Centre trying to overturn the financial bill that was passed by the Assembly in keeping with law and represented their hopes and aspiration of the downtrodden,’’ he said.
