The principal opposition party at the Centre, that has been facing aggressive political onslaught against its leadership and the previous UPA government led by Dr Manmohan Singh, quoted in a tweet, an interview of the Judge of the Italian court done by a TV news channel which gave clean chit to Gandhi.

The tweet quoted Italian Judge Marco Maigo as saying in the interview, “Only mention of her (Gandhi) in a fax...No evidence against her.”

“Gandhi has been indicated as someone who will fly in the VVIP helicopters, said Judge Marco Maigo, the president of Court of Appeals in Italy, who pronounced and signed the 225-page judgement in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam,” the party claimed in the tweet asserting ‘ Satyamev Jayate’.

The TV Channel NewsX reportedly asked the Judge during the interview, “There are some other Indian politicians whose names have come up...Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh…Why have those names appeared?”.

The Judge, according to the party, replied, “We have no evidence against Sonia Gandhi...Only a mention of her in a fax...the translation of the fax was sent to Michel...  Gandhi has been indicated as someone who will fly in the VVIP helicopters... Manmohan Singh is also mentioned in the same light...This manuscript was found in the prison cell of Giuseppe Orsi...He wrote this on a slip of paper with the name of Italian Prime Minister Monti as ‘contact’.
