Mysuru Palace Board Director (in-charge) and Additional Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh said the palace will remain closed for tourists for the next six days. This was done on the request of the royal family, to facilitate the marriage rituals. The palace reopens on June 30.
Some portions of the palace premises will be out of bounds for the public, particularly the area near the residential palace, he added. Mr Venkatesh said palace police personnel will be deployed at the palace gates to facilitate entry of persons coming with valid invitations.
Meanwhile, as the countdown for the 'royal' wedding in the Wadiyar family has begun, the iconic Amba Vilas Palace, the venue of themarriage of Yaduveer and Trishika, will be specially illuminated for six consecutive days starting from today.
The royal family had made a special request to the State government to light up the majestic edifice, for one hour daily. The timing of the illumination will be decided later. It is the practice for the palace to be illuminated for about an hour on Sundays and public holidays, and for three minutes after the 'Sound and Light' show, which is organised on weekdays.
Boston-educated Yaduveer is marrying Ms. Singh, second daughter of Maharaja Kumar Harshwardhan Singh and Rajkumari Maheshree Kumari of Dungarpur.
