UPSACC condemns attack
The Uttar Pradesh State Accredited Correspondent Committee (UPSACC) has taken a serious note of the incident of shoe being hurled at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, by a self-proclaimed Journalist, during his course of Kisan Yatra in Sitapur district, this afternoon. The correspondent committee is of the view that no true journalist will ever indulge in such an irresponsible and shameful act.
Condemning the incident, Pranshu Mishra, President of the committee, said here today that a real journalist is one, who is not influenced by his ideological notions during the course of discharging his professional duties. An act like hurling a shoe on a respectable politician not only brings bad name to the entire journalist community, it also will make things further difficult for genuine journalists as far as news gathering is concerned, Mr Mishra added.
Committee Secretary Neeraj Srivastava, senior Member Mudit Mathur and others also condemned the shameful act. The Committee further expressed hope that incident like this will not lead to increased restrictions for hundreds of genuine correspondents and photo and video journalists who had been covering the Congress vice president’s Kisan Yatra.
