NEET test to be held across India tomorrow

Amid opposition from almost every quarter, including the ruling and opposition parties, and confusions regarding the study material, the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses will be held across the country tomorrow.
Around 11.35 lakh students, including an estimated 80,000 students from Tamil Nadu, will be taking up the entrance test to pursue medical courses in the country.
To be held in a pen and paper based mode, the question booklet will consist of 180 multiple choice questions (MCQs) on Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as prescribed in the syllabus of NEET 2017.
The examination will be conducted for three hours between 1000 hrs and 1300 hrs in 103 selected centres that include Chennai, Tiruchi, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Namakkal, and Tirunelveli
from the State.
As a first, NEET 2017 will be held in eight regional languages including Tamil, along with Hindi and English.
Until last year, the exam was conducted in English and Hindi only.
Candidates facing the test were advised to reach the centres at least 30 minutes before the commencement of examination.
There will be a clock at every centre that runs an identical time to the NEET web portal that they need to follow.
Candidates were also advised not to carry any textual or digital material inside the examination hall as they would be provided with a pen.
Otherwise, an unfair means case will be marked against them. Further, such candidates will be debarred from taking NEET permanently and a criminal action will be initiated.

Hall ticket checks will commence at 0930 hrs following which question papers will be handed over.
Ten minutes later, invigilators will allow candidates to read the question paper and precisely at 1000 hrs the students would start writing their answers.
While Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts NEET 2017, admission to 15 per cent 'All India Quota' seats in government medical and dental colleges is filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through online counselling.
Similarly, admission in 85 per cent 'State Quota' seats in government medical and dental colleges is filled by the Directorate of Medical Education for the respective states.
The Directorate of Medical Education will conduct counselling for MBBS and BDS seats in private and deemed medical universities including central universities and minority institutions based on NEET merit list.
The exam results will be announced on June eight.
