Rajya Sabha adjourned Sine Die after four-week long Monsoon session

The Rajya Sabha was today adjourned sine die after a four-week-long Monsoon session , that saw 19 sittings of the House.

New Chairman of the Upper House M Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House sine die after a welcome accorded to him by the members.

In the valedictory statement, Mr Naidu described the session as a 'productive' one which saw the passage of nine government Bills.

''Nine government bills were introduced  during the session while two were withdrawn.

Three Short Duration Discussions and two Calling Attention Motions were taken up,'' he said.

He said that two new members from Goa and Madhya Pradesh took oath during the session.

A warm farewell was given to 10 members.

An emotional farewell was given to former vice-president M Hamid Ansari.

During the session, the House passed obituary references to two sitting members, including former Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave, and 11 former members.

''The Question Hour proceeded on 11 out of 18 scheduled days. As many as 46 questions were orally answered, with 187 supplementaries.

''There were 77 submissions during Zero Hour and 87 special mentions.

The national anthem was played and thereafter, the Chairman adjourned the House sine die.
