Jodhpur horror: Verbal spat between doctors claims infant's life at Umaid hospital

Yet another horrific blunder by doctor surfaced on Wednesday, now in the princely state of Rajasthan.
Umaid Women and Children Hospital yesterday when gynaecologist Ashok Nainwal and anaesthetist M L Tak entered into a verbal spat over checking the heartbeat of the child, said Amilal Bhat, principal of the S N Medical College, which runs the hospital.
One of the doctors later walked out of the operation theater. The child died due to falling pulse rate, he said.
Hopital's Superintendent allegedly claimed that, when the woman was admitted the condition of the fetus was already in a critical state and heart beat was also very low. However, the situation will still be probed to find the actual reason for newborn's death.
Bhat, said that both doctors had been removed immediately and disciplinary action will be taken against them.
Rajasthan High Court has taken cognizance of the incident at Umaid Hospital and asked the hospital to submit a report by 2 pm today.
The woman, identified as Anita, was admitted early Tuesday and was recommended by the doctor for a C-section due to her poor condition.
