Railway police said that three women software engineers boarded S1 bogie in the Chennai-Nizamuddin Millennium Express from Chennai. The Hindi speaking trio, believed to be residents of north India, started teasing the women techies from the start of the journey.

One of the techies, who could not bear the non-stop torture, jumped off the running train when it was crossing Singarayakonda station in Prakasham district on Thursday evening. The techie suffered severe head injuries. Meanwhile, her two friends pulled the chain and stopped the train.

The injured girl, who was in a critical condition, was shifted to RIMS hospital in an ambulance. On information, the police reached the spot and arrested the three youth.

What was shocking was the silence of the fellow passengers, as none on board the train dared to question the trio and rescue three hapless victims. The injured girl was bound for Vijayawada, sources said.
