However, train service from Srinagar-Badgam in the central Kashmir to Baramulla in north will not be affected, a railway official told UNI.

He said all trains from Badgam-Srinagar to Anantnag, Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region have been suspended for security reasons.

"We have received an advisory from police to suspend the train service in south Kashmir, where encounter took place in which two militants were killed,'' he said. All trains will chug in north Kashmir as per schedule, he said.

This is the 48th time when train service has been suspended partially or fully this year in the Kashmir valley, where train has become very popular against all other modes of transport because it is safe, cheap and fast.

Majority of people, going to Jammu or returning to Kashmir prefer train journey between Banihal to Srinagar.
