UP STF arrests 16 people for cheating in police recruitment exam

As many as 16 people, who were accused in the cheating allegation of UP police constable recruitment examination, were arrested on Monday.

The Uttar Pradesh STF has arrested at least 16 people onMonday in connection with cheating in the state police constable recruitmentexamination, an official said.

The two-day examination, whichbegan today, is being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Boardat 860 centres in 56 districts to fill 41,520 posts.     

"TheUttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) has arrested as many as 11people from Gorakhpur and five from Allahabad," Inspector General (IG) ofPolice, STF, Amitabh Yash told PTI here.

One ofpersons arrested in Gorakhpur, Anil Giri, has confessed to taking money fromcandidates for placing "solvers" for them in the examination, a police spokesperson claimed.

"AnandYadav (BSc, LLB), one of the solvers, and Amarnath Yadav, a candidate andliasoner for Giri, have landed in the STF's net. Around Rs 4 lakh and ID cardsof a dozen candidates have been recovered from them," the spokespersonsaid.

He saidthe STF is conducting raids to arrest more people related to the cheatingracket.

IrfanAhmed, Imran, Kaushal and Satendra Kr Singh, an advocate in the Allahabad HighCourt and a resident of Ballia, were among those arrested from Allahabad, theIG said 

"PawanKr Singh, a resident of Patna (a solver) has also been arrested. He wasimpersonating Ram Kumar Yadav, a resident of Mirzapur (UP)," Yash said.

He urged the public to inform the STF if they found any material offline and online related to the examination.
