In a press release, president of the unit V Saminathan said the Centre had directed the Territorial government to provide the augmented allowance to the employees, who retired before 2016, as per the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission.
The government is delaying the implementation and using a flimsy reason that there were no sufficient funds,” he said, while urging Chief Minister V Narayanasamy to ensure that the retired staff were not denied the benefit. Also, the BJP MLA said there was delay in disbursing the monthly assistance scheme (pension scheme) for the aged handloom weavers. The weavers have not been paid the assistance for the last four months, he said, demanding expeditious payment of the pension.
