Pondicherry University to honour best teachers
The Pondicherry University has instituted a cash award for outstanding teachers.

Vice-Chancellor Gurmeet Singh announced this while addressing the teachers day celebrations at the university on Friday, according to a release.
He said as a token of respect and recognition to the teachers community, in future, professors selected for the first prize will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh, while Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 would be awarded to those who bag the second and third prizes respectively.
In his address, Singh recalled the lessons he learnt from his professor, Khosla (105) during his college time at New Delhi.
He had taught me the importance of moral values, punctuality, hard work. Due to such leadership qualities imbibed from him, I was able to rise to the level of Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Singh added.
Singh emphasized that a great teacher is one a student remembers and cherishes forever.
Teachers have a long-lasting impact on the lives of their students, and the greatest teachers inspire students towards greatness.
