In a statement here, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran said reports were there that the government is contemplating to hand over the institution to the music school proposed to be started by maestro Ilaiyaraaja.  He said it is an AICTE recognized institution functioning under the Art and Culture Department of the territorial administration.

It is functioning in a campus of 10.5 acres and any diversion of the land would lead to the cancellation of AICTE recognition which would affect the students.

Sugumaran also said that  the government had failed to initiate any steps in this direction. Handing over of the ‘Bharathiyar Palakalai Koodam’ to a private party is not acceptable, he added.
