According to party sources, the party held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the issue and chalk out the modality to contest the seat. It may be noted that the CPI came second in Thattanchavady constituency pushing aside the Congress candidate to the third place, where N R Congress candidate Ashok Anand was elected. However, his seat became vacant after CBI special court sentenced him for amassing of disproportionate wealth to his known source of income. Party sources also said that though they have started the work, they would seek the support of the Congress, DMK and other left parties.
