Congress foundation day: Rahul hoists party flag

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday hoisted the party flag on the occasion of its 134th foundation day.

On the occasion, Mr Gandhi also acknowledged the selfless service and contributions of millions of Congress workers who have helped build and sustain the party over the ages.

He hoisted the flag at the AICC headquarters in presence of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, senior Congress leaders Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, A K Antony and others, including party workers.

The hoisting of flag was followed by playing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. On the occasion, Mr Gandhi also cut a cake to celebrate the day.

In a post on social media, the party president  said, ''On Congress Foundation Day let us celebrate and acknowledge the selfless service and contributions of millions of Congress workers, men and women, who have helped build and sustain the Congress party over the ages. We owe these unsung heroes our gratitude and respect. I salute them all.''
