Budget session to begin with President's Address

The vote on account budget before the general elections will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Feb 1.

The Budget Session of Parliament would begin with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narendra Tomar said on Thursday.

The vote on account budget before the general elections will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Feb 1.

Talking to the media here, Tomar said the two Houses of parliament are likely to be prorogued with the conclusion of the winter session of Parliament on Wednesday. "There will be a President's address to the joint sitting," the minister said.

Since the winter session is yet to be prorogued, he  did not disclose the dates of the budget session but sources said it is likely to be held from January 31 to February 13.

A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) was held on Wednesday to decide on the dates of the session. The budget session will be the last session before the general elections slated to be held in April-May.
