TN Governor, leaders condole Parikkar's death

His death was an irreparable loss and offered his condolences to the bereaved family members, while sharing his grief with mourning BJP workers.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and leaders of various political parties on Monday condoled the death of Goa Chief Minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

In his message, Purohit said ''the sad demise of Shri Manohar Parrikarji fills me with shock and grief.''

A gentleman to the core, an able administrator and an intellectual in his own right, Parrikar combined in himself the qualities of simplicity, sagacity and magnanimity, he said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.

''Endowed with impeccable integrity, administrative ability and a charismatic personality he acquitted himself creditably both as the Chief Minister of Goa and as India's Defence Minister'', the Governor said.

Observing that his demise was a great loss to the Nation, Purohit also conveyed his deep condolences and pray to the Almighty God to rest his soul in peace.

DMK President M K Stalin also condoled the death of Parikkar. In a tweet, he said ''extremely saddened to hear about the demise of Chief Minister of Goa, Thiru Manohar Parrikar.''

''On behalf of DMK, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow party persons'', he added.

In his condolence message, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said even while battling cancer, Parikkar had selflessly worked for the people of the country and Goa till he breathed his last.

Expressing shock over Parikkar's death, BJP State President Tamilisai Soundararajan described him as an epitome of simplicity.

She said his death was a big loss to the country. PMK Founder S Ramadoss also condoled the death of Parikkar and said it was big loss to the people of Goa.
