Three held for fraudulent insurance claims in name of deceased cancer patients in Punjab

Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police on Friday, April 19, claimed to have busted a gang who fraudulently claimed insurance money in the name of deceased cancer patients by showing their deaths in road accidents and arrested three persons in this connection.

The accused were identified as Pawan Bhoria of Sevali in Sonipat, Mohit of Rithana and Vikas of Gumana.

A Spokesperson for Police department said that the fraudsters, first identity cancer patients and contact their family members. Subsequently they get the insurance done of cancer patients from various companies. After showing death of cancer patients in road accident, they receive insurance claims of deceased after lodging FIRs in different police stations in Haryana.

Immediately after this, treatment record of deceased person was removed by them from PGIMS Rohtak. In this, government employees like doctors, police personnel and of PGIMS Rohtak were involved.

Director General of Police (Crime) P K Agrawal has received a complaint from Bharti Axa Life Insurance to this effect.

Primary interrogation revealed that these people involved in fraudlant insurance claims with IFFCO Tokyo, PNB Met Life, LIC, ICICI Lombart, HDFC ERGO, Edelweise Tokyo, AXA, Canara, Kotak, HSBC, Max Life, Future Gen, Bajaj Finance, LYF, Apollo Munich and Birla Sun Life.
