In a resolution adopted at the state executive committee meeting of the party here on Friday evening, it maintained that both the main parties —NR Congress and DMK had contested the bypoll and allegedly distributed cash for votes.
Media reports said the parties had allegedly distributed Rs 1,500 for a vote. This is a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the Election Department authorities were sluggish in implementing the model code for which they need to be condemned, a resolution said.
As many as eight candidates were there in the fray and the victory of one from any of the major parties means that the election was not held in a fair manner. Hence, the Puducherry Election Department should write to the Election Commission to countermand the by-poll here, a party release here on Saturday, said.
