A 30-year-old man was arrested on charges of peddling drugs in the Union Territory recently.
According to the police, when undertaking a mission to eradicate ganja menace in the Union Territory, the officials learned that Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)-which is reportedly more intoxicating than ganja-was being used by the youth here.
The police, upon coming to know that a medical representative was selling the drug here, arrested Arun (30) of Lawspet on Friday.
Upon interrogation, Arun informed the police that he came to know of the demand for LSD at a pub in Bengaluru and started getting a stamp of the drug for Rs.1200 from there and sold it for Rs.1800 in the Union Territory. The police subsequently seized the drug worth Rs.50,000 from his possession.
The police said the drug in a liquid form will be pasted on stamp-size papers and dried. When the paper is then kept on the tongue, it gets diluted and the person will get intoxicated in half an hour and the state will continue for 24 hours.
Although the accused said that he was into the illegal activity alone, further investigation is on to find out whether more people are involved in the crime, the police said.
