Sania, Malik, Pak players seen at shisha café on eve of India match, fans lash out after defeat

A day after Pakistan suffered its seventh defeat to India in the World Cup, losing this time by 89 runs in a rain-hit match at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday, fans ripped into Sarfaraz Ahmed and his team for not showing any intent in the match.

Some fans, in fact, posted photos on Twitter of the likes of Shoaib Malik and Wahab Riaz partying till late into the night on the eve of the game.


The video that has gone viral shows Malik along with his wife and Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and other Pakistani cricketers like Riaz and Imam-ul Haq reportedly enjoying shisha at the lounge, which many fans have cited as the chief reason for the defeat.


Some cricket fans claim they saw Malik smoking shisha at 2am at the lounge on Winslow Road in Manchester, while others were having junk food, including “burgers and pizzas”. The video drew an angry response from Mirza, who slammed the personfor shooting the videowithout permission.


Another fan took to YouTube and posted a video where he kept harping on the lack of intent from Pakistan, apart from pacer Mohammad Amir. He also spoke about how Sarfaraz was captured yawning during the game and that showed his disinterest.


Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board said the video of Pakistani cricketers sitting in a shisha bar, was recorded two days before theIndia match.

Responding to the backlash, Mirza said, “That’s the video you shot without asking us, disrespecting our privacy even though we had a child with us? And got told off for doing so, and you came up with this crap? FYI ‘outing’ was dinner & yes people are allowed to eat if they lose a match! Bunch of fools! Try better content next time”
