Be it floods or Covid-19, the NCC, Kottayam Group of Kerala and Lakshwadeep Directorate, ever since the first Covid-19 positive case was reported in the country at Thrissur on January 30, has been engaged in fighting the spread of it.
The first activity what this unit under the guidance of Brigadier N.V. Sunil Kumar, Group Commander did was to list out the volunteers and it now has 300 male and 200 girl NCC cadets and since then they are going around the area with sanitizers, masks and grocery items for those who need it.
The funds for this have come as contribution from these young cadets and officials.
"By now we have distributed 2500 sanitizers, 4000 masks, 350 gloves, and 50 grocery packets, while 50,000 masks are under preparation. Our cadets will now join the labour department for help in data compilation," said Sunil Kumar.
They have distributed these items to ordinary people, officials and others who are engaged in the work of fighting the spread of Covid.
Incidentally, this same unit was in the forefront when the floods struck the state in 2018 and 2019.
