Chennai: Two college students die in road accident while returning from IPL match

CHENNAI: Two college students who were returning from the IPL match were killed in an accident after their bike rammed into the metro rail pillar near Alandur on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Calvin Kenny Jayan (20), and Sidarth (19), of Ramapuram in St Thomas Mount. Police said Jayan was a first-year student at a private college in Potheri and Siddarth was a first-year mechanical student at Anna University.
On Sunday the friends parked their bike in St Thomas Mount Metro parking and from there boarded a Metro rail to Chepauk to watch the IPL match.
After the match was over, the duo returned on Metro Rail, took the bike from the parking lot, and headed home. Police said Jayan who was driving the bike tried to make a sharp turn at Asarkana Junction, but lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the metro rail pillar. Under the impact, both of them suffered severe head injuries and both of them died on the spot.
Based on the information, the St Thomas Mount traffic investigation police visited the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination to the Chromepet GH. The police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
