19-year-old student tries to retrieve Bluetooth headset from track, run over by train in Chennai
Preliminary investigations revealed that his Bluetooth earphones fell off and landed on the tracks as he alighted the train at the Kodambakkam station.
CHENNAI: A second-year college student died when he was searching for his Bluetooth earphones, which fell on the railway track near Kodambakkam railway station on Friday.
The student was identified as M Rajagopal (19), pursuing a BSc at Nandanam Arts College. Rajagopal, a resident of Pudhu Sorathur near Chinnasalem in Villupuram district, was staying at a government hostel in Saidapet. After college hours, he was working part-time with a caterer. The accident happened while he was on his way to work on Friday evening.
Preliminary investigations revealed that his Bluetooth earphones fell off and landed on the tracks as he alighted the train at the Kodambakkam station. He got to the tracks to search for it, unaware of a Tambaram train approaching, and got hit by the train.
Government Railway Police (Mambalam) moved him to a hospital, where he was declared as brought dead. Further investigations are under way.
