Govt staff in Kancheepuram murders 5-yr-old boy for resisting sexual abuse
The accused (34), who was in a relationship with the boy’s mother, used to abuse the child
CHENNAI: A five-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted and murdered by a 34-year-old government staff for resisting his sexual abuse, on Sunday. The police in neighbouring Kancheepuram district arrested the man for murdering the boy, the younger son of a woman with whom the accused was in a relationship.
The arrested man, M Rajesh, is working as a surveyor in the Revenue Department in Kancheepuram. Police said Rajesh, who was separated from his wife, got acquainted with a woman who runs a pushcart tiffin shop in the locality. Over a period time, the two of them developed a relationship. The woman who is separated from her husband lives with her mother and two children, a nine-year-old daughter and a five-year-old boy.
The woman did not suspect anything when Rajesh used to take the children to his home after school before dropping them at their home. On Sunday, too, Rajesh had taken both the kids to his home where he allegedly attempted to sexually abuse the boy.
Police investigations revealed that the boy started crying and attempted to escape from Rajesh's clutches, irate over which, he assaulted the boy and pushed him to the ground. As the boy fell unconscious, Rajesh quietly left both the kids at the woman's home and left. Around 2 am on Monday, the boy woke up and started vomiting. His mother rushed him to a hospital, where the boy died.
While examining the boy, doctors found external injuries on him after which police were informed. The Kancheepuram Taluk police conducted inquiries with the woman.
"The boy's sister told the mother about what unfolded at the accused's home on Sunday and that she witnessed him assaulting her brother," a police officer said. Based on a complaint from the father of the deceased, a police team picked up Rajesh for interrogation, after which he confessed to the crime.
Apart from section 103 of BNS (murder), Rajesh was also booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
