Man tries to run over ex-lover in Chennai
Chennai police are investigating the matter after registering a case based on the complaint lodged by the girl and her brother.
CHENNAI: A software engineer and her brother were injured after they fell off their two-wheeler when a car intentionally tried to hit them on Poonamallee High Road near Koyambedu on Wednesday.
When the techie's brother chased the car in the two-wheeler he was hit again and the car fled the scene, but it was found that the person behind the wheel was her estranged boyfriend.
Police investigations revealed that the boyfriend had allegedly cheated the software engineer by promising to marry her and took money and jewels from her after which she had filed a complaint against him with Avadi city police.
The techie resides with her family in Poonamallee. On Wednesday, she and her brother came to Koyambedu to a relative's house when the incident happened, police investigations revealed.
The car was driven by the woman's former boyfriend, Bharath, and his brother was accompanying him.
Because of his dangerous driving near the two-wheeler, the woman and her brother fell off the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. Later, the brother chased the car in the two-wheeler and found that it was driven by Bharath. But before he could stop it, the car knocked down the two-wheeler and fled.
Police have launched a search for Bharath and his brother.
