Trio held for two knifepoint robberies at Ambattur railway station

CHENNAI: Three persons have been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for two knifepoint robberies at Ambattur railway station. Police said that the incidents happened on Oct 5 and Sept 18.

Government Railway Police (GRP) Avadi who were probing the case tracked the suspects and arrested them on Saturday. They recovered three sovereigns of gold jewels and two mobile phones from them. The arrested were identified as A Raguman (28) of Vyasarpadi, A Lukmanul Hakeem (26) and A Karthik (28), both from Kodunagiyur.

On October 5, the trio threatened a man Ganesh (29) at knifepoint and stole 1.5 sovereigns of gold chain and a ring, and a mobile phone. In another incident on September 19, the trio had robbed another train passenger Sukumar (37), and stole a half-a-sovereign gold ring and a mobile phone.

All of them were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
