NEW DELHI: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is quite active on social media, and enjoys a massive fanfare online, opened up on how addictive it is to play online games, and shared about the games he plays with his granddaughter Aaradhya.
In the episode 75 of the quiz based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ season 15, host Amitabh Bachchan welcomed Rupak Kumar from Begusarai, Bihar to the hot seat.
For Rs 5000, the contestant was asked: “Which of these pieces is not placed on squares which are immediately adjacent to that of the king at the start of a game of chess?”
The options given were: Pawn, Rook, Queen, and Bishop. The correct answer was Rook.
Rupak then said: “Sir, chess has been my hobby since childhood. My father taught me chess in my childhood. He isn't alive now. Earlier, I played with others but now I don't have time. So I play online.”
“Sir, while playing online, I play for 10 to 12 hours continuously. Sir, at times, I started playing at 8 p.m. and continued playing until 5 a.m. the next day. My wife got angry during those times. She warned me not to play chess otherwise, I'd be punished,” he shared.
Big B said: “Yes. You are absolutely right. When we play online, we are tempted to play the next game.”
Contestant: “Sir, it's addictive. You are quite active on social media.”
The ‘Sooryavansham’ actor said: “I'm not really active. I just write randomly. Many friends, my fans converse with me. I reply to them.”
Contestant: “Sir, you are quite updated.”
Big B: “I manage to converse with them”, to which Rupak replied: “But, sir, your energy is awe-inspiring.”
Amitabh: “It doesn't need much energy. I just type the text. Somebody advised me to join that platform, so I write sometimes.”
Contestant: “Sir, I want to ask you something. I love chess. Sir, I'm surprised to see my five years old daughter, Rupika, she arranges the whole chessboard. She arranges all the pieces. She arranges all the pieces in their places and say, ‘dad, 'Il play’. She can't really play the game though. Sir, do you play chess with your granddaughter, Aaradhya?”
The 81-year-old actor then said: “I don't play chess much, because I'm not well-versed in this game. But yes, I play other games with them.”
“What you just said about your daughter is a good habit. Please encourage her. If she learns the game now… Do you know the current Grandmaster in chess? He is so young,” he added.
