PM Modi's Chennai trip to launch new Vande Bharat train postponed

The PM was scheduled to visit Chennai to flag off the Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express and inaugurate various other railway works. He was also expected to launch the Madurai to Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express via video conferencing.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP informed on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Chennai on June 20 has been postponed due to administrative reasons.

State BJP Vice President Karu Nagarajan stated that the new date for the visit will be announced later. "Due to administrative reasons, PM's Tamil Nadu visit has been postponed. Soon, we will inform the new date of PM Modi's visit. Accordingly, we will arrange a grand welcome for the PM," he said.

The PM was scheduled to visit Chennai to flag off the Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express and inaugurate various other railway works. He was also expected to launch the Madurai to Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express via video conferencing.

This would have been Modi's first official visit to the southern state since assuming office as Prime Minister for the third straight term.
