56 police officers of Tamil Nadu cadre transferred, promoted in major reshuffle

In Chennai City, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) - East, Saroj Kumar Thakur, has been transferred and posted as JCP, headquarters, Greater Chennai Police (GCP). The transfer comes within days of a sexual assault of a student inside Anna University campus, which falls under the jurisdiction of JCP (East).

CHENNAI: In a massive overhaul, 56 police officials of Tamil Nadu cadre were issued transfers with many also receiving promotions, as stated in an order issued on Sunday night. The new postings will be effective from January 1, 2025.

In Chennai City, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) - East, Saroj Kumar Thakur, has been transferred and posted as JCP, headquarters, Greater Chennai Police (GCP). The transfer comes within days of a sexual assault of a student inside Anna University campus, which falls under the jurisdiction of JCP (East).

Four ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) rank officers --- Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, G Venkataraman, Vinit Dev Wankhede and Sanjay Mathur --- were promoted to Director General of Police (DGP) rank. Two Inspector Generals of Police (IGP) --- R Dhinakaran and Sonal V Misra --- were promoted to ADGP rank.

ADGP D Kalpana Nayak, member, Tamil Nadu Uniform Services Recruitment Board, has been posted as ADGP, Idol Wing.

JCP (west) Dr P Vijayakumar has been posted as JCP (east) while PC Kalyan, Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, South Zone, has been promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank and posted as JCP (west).

Among traffic police officers, D Magesh Kumar, JCP - Traffic (south), has been transferred and posted as JCP - Traffic (north) while Bandi Gangadhar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) - Traffic (south), has been promoted to DIG rank and posted as JCP - Traffic (south).

Tiruchy SP Varun Kumar and Pudukottai SP Vandita Pandey have been promoted to DIG rank, and posted in Tiruchy range and Dindigul range.

Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Tiruppur Commissionerates now have new commissioners. DCP, Triplicane, Chennai, Santosh Hadimani has been promoted to DIG rank and posted as Commissioner, Tirunelveli City while S Rajendran, Additional Commissioner, Traffic and Headquarters, Avadi City has been posted as Commissioner, Tiruppur City, replacing S Lakshmi.

DIG, Coimbatore range, A Saravana Sundar has been promoted as IGP and posted as Commissioner, Coimbatore City replacing V Balakrishnan.

Among the other transfers include A Kayalvizhi, Deputy Inspector General/Joint Commissioner, Greater Chennai Police Headquarters who has been promoted and posted as Inspector General, Crime against Women and Children, Chennai, by downgrading the post of Director General of Police.

Dr R Stalin, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore North has been given the post of Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, South Zone, Chennai, while V Vinoth Santharam, Superintendent of Police, North Zone, CB-CID, Chennai, has been promoted as Deputy Commissioner of Police of Tirunelveli City East.

Four IPS officers from Tamil Nadu cadre deputed outside the state and overseas too received promotions including Nisha Parthiban, Superintendent of Police/Joint Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau (MHA), New Delhi, who has been given the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police.
