The ruling DMK would elect the leader and deputy leader of its Parliamentary party during the meeting.

DMK treasurer T R Baalu is most likely to be elected as the leader of the Parliamentary party.

If sources in the party are to be believed, there would be no change in the post of deputy Parliamentary party leader, which is currently held by Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.

The Chief Minister led meeting is also expected to contemplate on the floor strategy to be adopted by the DMK in the Parliament as Narendra Modi would begin his third successive term as the Prime Minister of India.

With the Congress nearly doubling its numbers to 99 MPs, enough to secure it the post of Leader of Opposition in the House, and a few other INDIA bloc constituent parties having higher numbers than the previous Parliament, the DMK would work on the floor management in partnership with its allies.

Meanwhile, a few allies and prominent personalities in the city, including a few leading businessmen called on Chief Minister Stalin and congratulated him on the party's resounding success in the just concluded Parliamentary polls.
