Cops allowed DMK protest at short notice while denying nod to PMK, flags Anbumani

CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss hit out at the State police on Tuesday, alleging double standards in considering the protest application of the ruling party and those in the opposition.
He said that DMK announced the protest against the Governor at 2.48 pm on Monday. "The ruling party was given permission within hours. It shows the double standards adopted by the State police," he said.
He alleged that the DMK preponed the protest to 9 am from 10 am, fearing some may ensure the court order against the ‘illegal permission’ granted. "Due to preponement, the office goers and students were hit at protest venue in Saidapet," he said.
He warned that the people of the State are watching how the police are being manipulated by the ruling DMK and said that they would teach a lesson at the right time and in the right manner.
Anbumani wondered how DMK got the nod for the protest within a day after the city police chief insisted on 5 days for applying for a protest when PMK approached. "The police and the State government must answer," he said.
