CHENNAI: Dead bodies from the village of Dindigul went missing from the graveyard.

Villagers allege that six bodies have gone missing from a graveyard near Vedasandur in Dindigul district, according to a Daily Thanthi report.

The cemetery, located in the Srirampuram panchayat area of Vedasandur, serves over 60 families in the region. The incident has caused significant alarm among the local community.

The situation unfolded when a young man from the village died due to health complications.

As the villagers gathered to prepare the grave for his burial, they noticed that approximately 10 feet of earth had been dug up in the cemetery.

Upon closer inspection, people found that six graves, which previously contained bodies, had been emptied. The villagers were shocked by the discovery and began to investigate the matter.

Later, it was revealed that some unknown individuals had arrived at the cemetery late at night, dug up the graves, and removed the bodies.

In protest, the villagers took to the Vedasandur-Eriodu road, blocking traffic and demanding action against the mysterious individuals responsible for disturbing the graves.

The protest caused a disruption in traffic for nearly an hour. The villagers called for immediate investigation and appropriate legal action to be taken.

Upon receiving the news, local police and authorities rushed to the scene and held discussions with the protesting villagers.

The villagers argued with the police, insisting that the situation be addressed promptly. Authorities assured the villagers that a thorough investigation would be conducted and the appropriate measures would be taken.

After the meeting with the police, the villagers eventually called off their protest and dispersed.
