Engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu will continue even after the counselling: Higher Education minister Ponmudy
Stating that this year about 2.53 lakh applications were received by the students for engineering admissions, he said the online counselling will begin from July 22 to September 11.
CHENNAI: Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy on Monday said that the engineering admissions will continue even after the three rounds of counselling depending on the existing vacancies that time.
Stating that this year about 2.53 lakh applications were received by the students for engineering admissions, he said the online counselling will begin from July 22 to September 11.
"Elaborate arrangements were made to conduct the counselling successfully", he added.
Claiming that the number of students, who apply for Tamil Nadu engineering admissions is increasing every year, the minister said during the last three years the students especially from the government schools, who apply for engineering courses, have increased. "In addition, enrollment of the students from rural areas also increased", he said.
Ponmudy said that even after the completion of the counselling, "Varandha" (spot) admissions will take place where students could get enrolled directly by visiting their college of choice.
Meanwhile, sources from Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) said that at present grievances redressal is being organised for the students to clear the doubts with regard to their merit list and other admission and counselling procedure.
Accordingly, the grievances redressal will be organised till July 18 and the first round of counselling will start from July 22.
