EPS condemns Tirunelveli murder; expresses concerns over law and order in the state
In a statement, EPS commented, “Even the courts are no exception to such incidents”
CHENNAI: Hours after a gang wielding deadly weapons hacked a youth to death near the Tirunelveli court complex, Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, condemned Chief Minister MK Stalin and the DMK government for reportedly failing to maintain law and order in the State.
Palaniswami took to social media to voice his strong condemnation of the present administration over the broad daylight murder of the youth who was identified as Mayandi on Friday morning.

The tragic incident occurred when the victim was on his way to appear for a hearing in connection with a murder case. “Under this government, murders are occurring anywhere at any time. The Court premises are no exception,” Palaniswami said.
Referring to allegations from the advocates, who witnessed the murder, the AIADMK leader noted that it appeared the police had just remained as onlookers, and failed to prevent the tragic incident. “The murders occurring within Court complexes and their surrounding areas are clear signs of the breakdown of law and order under Stalin's regime,” Palaniswami stated, tagging the CM in his post.
Pointing out the string of murders and attempted murders, including an assault in a Chennai bank and the murder of a youth in Sivagangai, reported across the State within the last 24 hours, he claimed that anti-social elements in the State no longer fear the police.
Palaniswami warned Stalin that he could not shrug off these incidents as “isolated murders”. “These events expose the lawlessness that prevails in the State,” he said, adding, “I demand the CM stop deflecting from these serious issues and focus on his primary responsibility of ensuring law and order in the State. I also urge him to take swift and stringent action against the perpetrators following the law.”
