Eradication of mosquitoes: TN Govt requests public to cooperate

CHENNAI: Requesting the public to cooperate with the government machinery in preventing the spread of the epidemic, the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday said that although the government and local bodies have taken serious measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic during the coming north east monsoon, the general public is also should cooperate sufficiently to avoid mosquito netting around their houses and water pollution.

According to a release by the state government, the Dengue review meeting led by the Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena informed that steps have been taken to accelerate preventive measures at the district level.

"Tests have been carried out to see if Aedes mosquitoes contain dengue virus, and according to that, preventive measures are being taken at the district level before dengue outbreaks occur in the areas. Life saving drugs, blood cells required for treatment in government hospitals. Test kits include blood cells and blood is also kept in sufficient quantity, " it added.

"Fever in more than 3 persons in any area if detected, the cause of fever in the area is immediately identified and steps are taken to eradicate it completely. The Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena is advised to approach the hospital and not to self-medicate when they have a fever, " the release said.
