CHENNAI: Flagging another suicide linked to NEET, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday slammed Chief Minister K Stalin and his deputy, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for failing to fulfil their election promise of freeing the State from National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Examination (NEET).
Palaniswami demanded them to either disclose their ‘NEET secret’ (as claimed during poll campaign) immediately or openly admit that they have lied to the people.
Expressing condolences over the tragic death of a NEET aspirant, a native of Villupuram district, who reportedly took her own life due to fear of failure in the exams, Palaniswami said the Stalin-led government should take full responsibility for the student’s death. He also demanded the government to take necessary measures to prevent NEET-related deaths of students in the State in the future.
The former CM pointed out that he had been repeatedly raising the issue and had even addressed it at a public meeting in Theni, highlighting the DMK’s political drama surrounding the NEET.
Palaniswami pointed out how the DMK leaders spoke about the ‘NEET secret’ before the elections. Four years have passed since they came to power, yet the father-son duo continue to perpetuate lies, referring to CM Stalin and his deputy Udhayanidhi.
