National high command will react: Annamalai on AIADMK-BJP split

AIADMK came out with a resolution announcing the party's decision to walk out from the NDA alliance following the meeting between Edappadi K Palaniswami and district secretaries, party MPs, MLAs and headquarters' functionaries.

CHENNAI: Hours after All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) passed a resolution and announced breaking ties with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party president K Annamalai on Monday said that the national leadership of BJP will react to the AIADMK's stand.

Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Annamalai said that the party's high command will react in the right time.

Subsequently, BJP National Secretary C T Ravi said, "The polls are eight months away and what will happen in these months, we can't say now". Under the leadership of K Annamalai a great work of strengthening the BJP party is being done," Ravi said.

Meanwhile, BJP veteran H Raja said that as AIADMK pulled out of the NDA alliance, the Tamil Nadu BJP had no loss in the elections.

While other leaders in the NDA alliance have urged for the merger of two major parties.

Puthiya Thamilagam leader K Krishnasamy said, "When the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win all the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the sudden breakdown of the AIADMK-BJP alliance is shocking. We didn't expect this at all."

Tamil Maanila Congress (Mooppanar) leader G K Vasan said, "We wish that the chaos and problems between AIADMK and BJP should be resolved and they should start working together to defeat the opposition alliance."

Meanwhile, the party insiders said that the high command has summoned the state president Annamalai to meet the BJP leadership in Delhi to discuss the NDA alliance strategy in the Dravidian heartland.
