New IG for West Zone, new Commissioner for Tirunelveli in latest Tamil Nadu police reshuffle

In all, 8 officers in the rank of IG and 7 DIGs were transferred

CHENNAI: In yet another reshuffle in the Tamil Nadu Police, T Senthil Kumar has been appointed as the new IG (Inspector General of Police) for the West Zone while Rupesh Kumar Meena has been posted as the new Tirunelveli Commissioner.

In all, 8 officers in the rank of IG and 7 DIGs (Deputy Inspector Generals of Police) were transferred, according to an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Kumar on Saturday.

Saroj Kumar Thakur, DIG, Vellore range has been transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (JCOP) (East), Greater Chennai Police while Tirunelveli range DIG Pravesh Kumar has been posted as JCOP (North), Chennai.

A Radhika, IGP, Crime, Chennai, is posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Branch (CCB), replacing PK Senthil Kumari who will be taking Radhika’s post.

Erstwhile Tirunelveli Commissioner Pa Moorthy has been posted as DIG, Tirunelveli while N Devarani, JCOP, Traffic (north), Chennai has been posted as DIG, Vellore.

IGP K Bhavaneeswari who was serving in West Zone is posted as IGP, Establishment, replacing Rupesh Kumar Meena.

Mahender Kumar Rathod, IGP, Director (investigation), State Human Rights Commission has been posted as IGP, Social Justice and Human Rights, replacing B Shamoondeswari who is posted as IGP, General at the state police headquarters.

IGP, Welfare, Najmul Hoda is transferred and posted as IGP, Modernisation at DGP office.

Abhishek Dixit who was serving as JCOP (North) in GCP is posted as DIG, Railways while DIG, Dindigul range, Abhinav Kumar is posted as DIG, Ramanathapuram range, replacing M Durai who will be DIG, Welfare at the state police headquarters.


Idol Wing CID chief transferred

Shailesh Kumar Yadav, who was Director General of Police (DGP) of Idol Wing (CID) has been transferred and posted as DGP, Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Ltd. He is succeeding AK Vishwanathan who has retired.

Shailesh, a 1993-batch IPS officer, was serving as the IGP of South Zone when police firing killed 13 anti-Sterlite protestors and injured several others, in Thoothukudi, on May 22, 2018. Following widespread outrage, he was shunted out to Chennai and posted as the IGP of the Armed Forces. Later, he was promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Idol Wing (CID) before going on to head it, in December last year.

Additionally, IG R Dhinakaran will now hold full additional charge as chief of the Idol Wing (CID). The post was downgraded to an ADGP rank, the order read.
