North-East Monsoon: Holiday declared on 15.10.2024 for schools, colleges in Chennai, neighbouring districts

Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday issued orders to declare holiday to schools and colleges in Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts

CHENNAI: In the wake of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasting very heavy rainfall in Chennai and adjoining districts for the next couple of days, Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday issued orders to declare holiday to schools and colleges in Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.

Orders were issued by the CM after a monsoon preparedness meeting he chaired at the state secretariat Monday morning.

Chief Minister Stalin has also requested IT firms to advise their employees to Work-from-Home (WFH) between October 15 and 18.

Advising the officials concerned to deploy NDRF and SDRF teams in vulnerable areas in advance, Chief Minister Stalin asked the officials to deploy required boats in such vulnerable areas today (Monday) to help rescue people in the event of floods.

The CM also asked officers in charge of districts to reach their designated districts and coordinate monsoon preparation with the respective district administrations to plan flood relief cum operations.
