Student submits forged documents for TN medical counselling, handed over to police

CHENNAI: An 18-year-old boy allegedly submitted fake documents when he appeared for counselling at the Directorate of Medical Education office here along with his father. They were then handed over to the police.

Police sources said that the applicant who hails from Tirupathur district had secured 429 marks in the NEET-UG entrance examination.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the student had applied for counselling online from a computer centre in Tirupathur. The operator of the computer centre Venkatachalapathy had fraudulently edited the student's counselling application, which was then submitted before the officials. Venkatachalapathy had taken money from the boy's parents to create fake documents. Further enquiry is underway to find out if he had given similar forged documents to others, police said.

During verification of documents, the counselling letter was found to be fake after which the boy and his father were handed over to the police.
